It is a quick and easy dish to prepare, which does not need cooking and requires only a few ingredients. Colorful, fresh and light, it is ideal both as an appetizer and as a single dish, for a cheerful and carefree meal!

Caprese salad ingredients

  • Fiordilatte mozzarella 500gr
  • beefsteak tomatoes or flask 4
  • 1 sprig basil
  • Chianti Classico DOP Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • sea ​​salt to taste

Which oil should you pair with Caprese?

For the Caprese salad, which has a delicate flavour, we recommend pairing it with our medium fruity DOP Chianti Classico oil, which gives a herbaceous and fresh note to a typically summer dish.

Method

  1. Wash the tomatoes (very fresh!), Remove the central stalk and cut them into regular slices about 1 cm thick.
  2. Slice the mozzarella, which must be at room temperature (never from the fridge!), Always cutting it into 1 cm slices.
  3. Rinse a sprig of basil leaves and let it dry.
  4. Serve alternating the slices of tomato with those of mozzarella.
  5. Add the salt and, when serving, the basil. If you miss fresh basil you can use our basil flavored oil.

Our recommendations

If you decide to prepare the caprese in advance, you can keep it in the fridge for a maximum of an hour before serving, adding the basil immediately before serving it.
To prepare the perfect caprese salad, don't choose just any tomatoes, prefer large, ripe and crunchy ones.
